About Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda.
Queen Elizabeth national park is the located in Kasese district in the western part of Uganda. The national park covers a total land area of 1,978 square kilometers and extends to Lake Edward and Lake Gorge with a joining water body called Kazinga channel.
The park is comprised of open savannah grassland, forest grassland, swamp vegetation, acacia woodland and is a harbors of about 95 animal species including the big four mammals which are the elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, other animals like hippos, waterbucks, warthogs, giant forest hogs, bushbucks, Uganda kobs, oribis, primates like chimpanzees, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys which are viewed in different sectors, over 645 bird species which makes it a birders haven with bird species like broad billed roller, African fin foot, African skimmer, black bee-eater, papyrus Gonolek, red chested sunbird, papyrus Gonolek, grey winged robin, yellow throated cuckoo, white backed night heron, yellow bellied wattle eye among others.
