BUHOMA LODGE

Buhoma Lodge: Buhoma Lodge is a luxury accommodation facility situated in the northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable national park. The lodge was established in 2005 and even won a Certificate of Excellence from Trip advisor.

The lodge is a perfect getaway for visitors doing gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park. It is situated just a few kilometers from the trailhead at Buhoma which makes it very convenient for tourists trekking mountain gorillas in Buhoma sector.

The lodge is an intimate and charming property that commands spectacular and uninterrupted views of the national park, which is home to the rare and highly sought after Mountain Gorillas.

Buhoma lodge is one of only a few lodges situated within Bwindi impenetrable national park; and within a short walking distance from the meeting point for gorilla trekking and other activities in Buhoma sector.

The lodge has ten comfortable cottages which have been individually designed and carefully constructed using locally sourced materials. Each of the cottages has its own private veranda with spectacular views of the forest canopy in the national park.

Inside the spacious cottages you will find large, comfortable beds and everything you need to make yourself at home.  The well-appointed and roomy en-suite bathroom with flush toilet contains a rain shower with a copious supply of hot water and equipped with locally produced natural ranges of complementary bathroom amenities. Some cottages also offer a bath-tub for relaxation and enjoyment after the day’s activities.

Each cottage is fitted with insect proof window screens, eco-friendly solar lighting, and a secure safe. The family / honeymoon cottage, in addition to all of the above, also features a separate lounge room with open fire place.

The lodge also has an open air lounge and bar area with uninterrupted views of the misty Bwindi impenetrable forest. After a tiring day tracking gorillas, relax and unwind around an open bond fire, or simply enjoy a few drinks at the bar.

Enjoy the delicious four course meals at the lodge’s restaurant which are freshly prepared from local produce, ensuring you take away warm homely memories of your stay at the lodge. The bar has a selection of both local and imported beverages thus giving visitors a variety of drinks to choose from.

Hot beverages are available throughout the day on a self -service basis, but, are delivered to your cottage with early morning wake up calls as required, allowing you to awake gently and savor the early morning sounds of the forest.

The lodge also offers visitors spa treatments which are available to all overnight guests who are entitled to a complimentary massage by the trained in-house masseuse at the lodge.

The lodge also offers guests a complimentary laundry and hiking boot cleaning service after a long day of gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park. In addition to this, the lodge offers arrangements for special occasions; including birthday and other celebrations, private dining, cultural dancing and interaction as well as room service as required which is communicated through our in-house private telephone service available in each room.

Buhoma lodge has been designed using sustainable local materials wherever possible, with the emphasis being on natural, eco-friendly products which have in turn given support to the local communities and businesses. Supplies are obtained from as nearby as possible from local sources and staff are also generally recruited locally and trained on site.

The water supply at the lodge is gravity fed and solar power is used for lighting and power points which are hence limited to the central area for recharging electronic equipment. A curio shop is on site with a range of locally made crafts.

How to get to Buhoma Lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

The lodge can be accessed by road or by air transport means. By Road,

Buhoma in the Bwindi Impenetrable national park is a full day’s drive from Entebbe or Kampala. The lodge is a 6 hours’ drive from Lake Mburo National Park and a 2 hours’ drive from Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha Sector.

By Air

Twice daily scheduled light-aircraft flights land at the nearby Kihihi airstrip approximately 90-120 minutes’ drive from Buhoma, depending upon road conditions. It is also possible to charter a flight to Kihihi from Entebbe or various locations around Uganda or other major hubs in East Africa.
