During this 6 Days Uganda Safari, you will get to view wildlife during a game drive and boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park, as well as track chimpanzees in Kalinzu forest. Detailed itinerary for 6 Days Uganda Gorillas, Chimpanzees and Wildlife Safari.
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
Depending on your location on the first day of your 6 days Uganda gorillas, chimpanzees and wildlife safari, you will be welcomed by our driver guide at Entebbe airport who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park which takes about 6 to 7 hours’ drive with en route lunch on the way. Upon arrival in the park you will go for an optional evening game drive where you will be able to view different animals such as elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks among others. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at your designated lodge.
Day 2: Morning game drive/ optional lion tracking experience and afternoon boat cruise
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 6 days Uganda gorillas, chimpanzees and wildlife safari you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive in Kasenyi plains where you will be able to see various animal species such as elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, buffaloes, bushbucks, warthogs, predators like lions, leopards, hyenas if you are lucky and different bird species. After the game drive you will drive to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will meet up with your driver guide to go for an interesting boat cruise on Kazinga channel a water body that joins Lake George and Lake Edward. During the boat cruise which takes about 2 hours, you will enjoy spectacular views of animal species like hippos, Nile crocodiles in water, elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks along the water banks drinking water and various water birds such as martial eagle, papyrus Gonolek, pelicans, African skimmers, cormorants, African spoonbills, fish eagles, king fisher’s and many others. After the boat cruise you will return back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight as above.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trek in Kalinzu Forest
Following an early breakfast on the third day of your 6 Days Uganda gorillas, chimpanzees and wildlife safari, you will carry your packed lunch from the lodge and head out with your driver guide to the park’s briefing point for your briefing. After your briefing, you will head out into the forest in search for chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking in Kalinzu forest can take between 4-6 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzee family. Once you have located a group, you will be given an hour to spend with the chimpanzees. Have your packed lunch and then head back to your lodge where you can rest and spend the rest of your evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay and your lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 6 days Uganda gorillas, chimpanzees and wildlife safari, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park you passing via Ishasha sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth national park. It takes about 2 hours’ drive to Ishasha sector and upon arrival you will go for an exciting game drive where you will get an opportunity to view the tree climbing lions which will be lazily lying up in the acacia, fig tree branches if you are lucky. After the game drive you will have lunch and then proceed with the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park and upon arrival you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park
After an early breakfast on the fifth day of your 6 days Uganda gorillas, chimpanzees and wildlife safari, you will carry packed lunch from the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for the gorilla trekking briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations. After the briefing you will start trekking in the jungle which takes 30 minutes to 7 hours passing via the thick forest where you will be able to view other primates like the L’Hoest monkeys, baboons, bird species, plant species among others. When the mountain gorillas are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their lifestyle, habits, behaviors, take photos and record the moments.
After the one-hour encounter with the gorillas, you will trek back to the park headquarters where you be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and then meet up with your driver guide to go for an optional cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the Batwa, learn about their culture, way of living, enjoy their traditional performances among others. After the cultural tour, you will transfer back to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 6: Departure to Kampala/Entebbe
On the last day of your 6 days Uganda gorillas, chimpanzees and wildlife safari, you will have breakfast in the morning, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kampala. You the way you will pass via Kabale town, Ntungamo town and Mbarara town where you will have a stopover for lunch. After lunch you will continue the journey with another stop over at the Equator where you will be able to take photos and in case you want to buy some souvenirs there are various craft shops where you can buy art crafts, art pieces among others. From the Equator you will proceed with the journey to Kampala and your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your next flight or at any place of convenience.
