Detailed Itinerary for 6 Days Kidepo National Park and Pian Upe Safari.
Day 1: Pick up from Kampala and Transfer to Pian Upe
Depending on where you are in Kampala, on the first day of the 6-day Kidepo National Park and Pian Upe safari, your driving guide will pick you up from the resort and transport you to the Pian Upe wildlife area. On the way, you’ll stop for lunch before continuing on to Pian Upe. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for supper and an overnight stay at UWA Bandas.
Day 2: Full Day Game Drive
Following an early breakfast on the second day of your 6-day Kidepo Valley and Pian Upe safari, you will meet with your driving guide for a morning game drive in the reserve, where you will be able to see animals at their most active. During the game drive, you will be able to see animals such as oribi, zebras, mountain reedbucks, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, waterbucks, roan antelopes, hyenas looking for a morning hunt, and a variety of bird species such as ostriches, secretary birds, and yellow-billed shrikes.
Following the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive to see any animals you may have missed. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for supper and sleep, as described above.
Day 3: Drive to Kidepo Valley National Park
On the third day of your 6-day Kidepo National Park and Pian Upe safari, you will have breakfast before being picked up from the lodge by your driver guide for the travel to Kidepo Valley National Park. On the way, you will have lunch and then travel to the park. Once at Kidepo Valley National Park, you will check into the lodge for an evening of leisure, supper, and an overnight stay at lodge in the park.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Visit Karamajong Village
Following an early breakfast on the fourth day of your 6-day Kidepo Valley and Pian upe safari, you will meet your driving guide for a morning wildlife drive in Narus valley, also known as a water provision site. The Narus valley draws a great number of animals, including buffaloes, elephants, and Uganda kobs, all of which will drink in the valley. You will also be able to see many bird species such as ostrich, Karamoja Apalis, scarlet-chested sunbird, Abyssinian ground hornbill, and secretary bird, among others. Following the game drive, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go on an intriguing cultural excursion to the neighboring Karamajong Villages during which you will get the opportunity to engage with the Karamajong who reside in the adjacent villages. During the cultural trip, you will get the opportunity to learn about their culture, traditions, and way of life, as well as see the Karamojong manyattas and experience traditional music and dances. After the cultural trip, you will return to the lodge for supper and sleep, as described above.
Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Kitgum
On the fifth day of the six-day Kidepo National Park and Pian Upe safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge for another game drive in Kidepo Valley, where you will be rewarded with great views of wildlife species such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, elands, reedbucks, oribi, giraffes, Uganda kobs, kudus, elephants, bushbucks, and various bird species including ostriches. After the wildlife drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch before checking out and leaving for Kitgum. Upon arrival, you will check into your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe.
On the final day of your 6-day Kidepo National Park and Pian Upe safari, you will have a leisurely breakfast, check out of the lodge, and meet your driver guide for the journey back to Kampala. On the way, you will have lunch and continue your journey to Kampala, arriving early evening, where your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight or at any other location as advised.
