5 Days Murchison Falls & Masai Mara Wildlife Safari will take you to two of the best savannah wildlife parks in the East African Region- Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda and Masai Mara National Park in Kenya. Apart from wildlife viewing, you will also get to embark on a boat cruise on Victoria Nile in Murchison falls national park. You will also embark on hiking expeditions in the parks, as well as take cultural tours to some of the local communities that live near the national parks like the famous Masai people in Narok county, near Masai Mara national park.

Detailed Itinerary for 5 Days Murchison Falls & Masai Mara.
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.
Pick up & Transfer to Murchison Falls: On the first day of your 5 days Murchison Falls & Masai Mara Safari, you will be picked up by a guide from Explore Rwanda Tours from your designated hotel in Kampala. Your guide will then transfer you to Murchison falls national park. The national park is located just about 305 kilometers from Kampala and it takes approximately 5 hours to get to the park.
Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Sanctuary: You will have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Sanctuary for rhino tracking. The Rhino sanctuary and wildlife Ranch is located in Nakasongola district and was gazetted to protect the low white rhino populations that which were and still under threat due to poaching activities following the high demand for their horns on the black market. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and Wildlife Ranch is under the funding and management of the Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority. Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only place where you will get to see rhinos in the wild.
Proceed to Murchison Falls national park via Masindi and check into your Lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Cruise.
Morning Game Drive: After breakfast, you will head for an early morning game drive which will start at 7am. You will board a ferry at Paraa at 7am and cross over to the northern part of the national park which is endowed with a variety of wildlife. The game drive takes about 1-2 hours in the park and you can be accompanied by a trained park ranger. While on the game drive, you will get the opportunity to view include warthogs, buffaloes, and elephants, giraffes among others and bird species like a saddle – billed stork, majestic grey crowned crane, handsome black-headed spur-winged lapwings and many more.
Afternoon Boat Cruise: Return to your lodge for lunch and later proceed to Paraa for an afternoon boat cruise which begins at exactly 2pm. The launch cruise upstream along Victoria Nile to the base of the falls. It can take up to 3 hours gracing tourists with spectacular views of wildlife species like Nile crocodiles, elephants, hippos, buffalos and some bird species like the white egret, marabou stock and shoebill stock.
Top of the Falls Hike (Optional): If you still wish to explore the park more, you can opt to go on a hike to the top of the falls with your starting point being at the ‘devils cauldron’. Here the highlight of your hike will be the majestic Murchison Falls which cascades 45 meters down the Rift Valley wall. Do not forget to take pictures once you get to the top of the falls. This spot offers picturesque views of the Nile River and Murchison Falls.
Later in the evening retire to your Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Entebbe Airport & Fly to Masai Mara.
Transfer to Entebbe & Fly to Mara: Start your day with an early Breakfast at your hotel and later drive to Entebbe airport where you will board your flight to Masai Mara National Park in Kenya. Flights to Masai Mara national park from Entebbe leave at exactly 12 noon and take about 2½ hours. Upon your arrival in the national park, you will have lunch at your designated lodge. You can choose to spend the rest of your evening relaxing at your lodge. Alternatively, you can head out for an evening nature walk or game drive in the national park. Later retire back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Full Day Game Drive
Full Day Game Drive: Have your breakfast in the morning and head out for a full day game drive in Masai Mara National Park. This guided game drive will lead you to some of Africa’s largest lion prides, herds of zebra, antelopes, buffaloes, wildebeests, giraffes, cheetahs, and hyenas in the park. Masai Mara national park is a haven for savannah wildlife animals in Kenya, and the park is among one of the top destinations for wildlife safaris on the African continent. Return back to your lodge for lunch and rest for a while. Later head out for an afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara plains which are full of wildebeests especially during the migration season which is early July to September. You will also have an opportunity to see impala, topi, cheetah, jackals, and bat-eared foxes. If you are lucky, you will spot some black rhinos within the park; these rhino species are a bit shy and tend to isolated themselves from other wildlife animals in the park, which makes sighting them quite difficult. You will also drive along the Mara River, which has a large number of Hippos, as well as Nile crocodiles.
Later retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer to Nairobi & Departure.
Community Cultural Tour: Unfortunately, today marks the end of your 5 days Safari with us. After having breakfast at your lodge, you will drive to Narok which is a famous Masai town near Masai Mara national park. You will get a chance to interact with the local Masai people living in this town and visit local craft shops where you can grab yourself and loved ones some souvenirs.
Transfer to Nairobi & Departure: Later proceed with your drive to Nairobi where your guide will either drop you off at the airport or to your hotel in Nairobi city. End of Tour.
Note: Depending on your departure times, you can have a short tour of Nairobi city where you can visit interesting places such as; the National Museum, Nairobi City Market, and the Snake Park among others. Do give us prior notice in case you want this activity added into your itinerary.
