Detailed Itinerary for 5 Days Amboseli, Lake Naivasha and Masai Mara Safari
Day 1: Pickup from Nairobi and Transfer to Amboseli National Park
You will depart after breakfast or be picked up at the airport and travel over the Nairobi highway, stopping at Emali for a brief break before continuing to Amboseli National Park. On the drive to Sentrim Amboseli Camp, you’ll stop for lunch at a Maasai market.
Amboseli national park is home to the famed Maasai tribe. The visit to the Maasai community would be optional. You will proceed on an afternoon wildlife drive, with excellent weather allowing you to glimpse the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro. Your supper and overnight stay at your selected lodge/camp in Amboseli park.
Day 2: Game Drive and Transfer to Lake Naivasha National Park
After breakfast, you will travel for Nairobi, arriving at a local restaurant for lunch. After lunch, you will descend into the Great Rift Valley, stopping at the viewpoint. You will then arrive at your lodge to check in. It is a freshwater lake with a scenic view of Mount Longonot, hippos, and more than 400 bird species on the island, including pelicans, African fish eagles, African darters, cormorants, and migratory lesser flamingos. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at your lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve.
After breakfast, you’ll travel southwest over the Great Rift Valley floor, stopping in the Maasai herders’ hometown. You’ll arrive at your lodge for lunch. You will enjoy an afternoon game drive over the wide Mara plains in search of predators such as lions with black manes, cheetahs, leopards, and a variety of herbivores, particularly during the annual wildebeest migration between July and September. Your supper and overnight stay will be at your lodge.
Day 4: Full Day Game Drive in Mara
You will spend the entire day in the Mara doing a full day game drive in the park. On this day, you can enjoy an early morning hot air balloon ride and an afternoon visit to a Maasai hamlet at your leisure. All meals and overnight accommodations will be provided at lodge.
Day 5: Transfer Back to Nairobi
Wake up in time to have breakfast at your lodge/camp and then check out. Meet up with your driver guide and start your trip back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon. Have lunch in Nairobi, and then your driver guide will drop you off at your preferred hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. If you still have time to explore, you may take a brief tour of Nairobi, seeing intriguing attractions such as the Giraffe Center, Snake Park, and artisan market, among others.
