This 4 days Volcanoes National Park Safari takes you on a gorilla and primate adventure in Rwanda. During this tour, you will be tracking mountain gorillas and golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park. You will also get to hike to the late Dian Fossey’s gravesite within the park where you can pay tribute to the late primatologist and also learn more about her great contribution to the conservation of mountain gorillas in the Virunga Massif.

Detailed Itinerary for 4 Days Volcanoes National Park Safari
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to hotel
You will be met by our company representative and transfer to Ruhengeri – the nearest place to Volcanoes National Park found in the northern province of Rwanda. The journey is a 3 hours’ drive from Kigali. You will check-in into your hotel and then do an optional community tour around Ruhengeri for a Rwanda cultural experience or unwind and spend the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 2; Gorilla Trekking – Volcanoes National Park
On the second day of your 4 Days Volcanoes National Park Safari, you will enjoy early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for a briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00 am. After the briefing, you will start your gorilla trekking journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the mountain gorillas.
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda takes 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas however; the guides will try to find them from where they were last seen the previous day! You will spend 1 hour with these gentle giants and later return to your lodge to refresh and relax as you savor the memories of your trek. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above
Day 3; Dian Fossey Hike
You will first enjoy early morning breakfast and go for the Dian Fossey hike, report for briefing before you set off for the hike. This may take 3-5 hours. Return from the hike and return to your lodge to rest. Dinner and overnight at lodge as above
Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking and return to Kigali
After breakfast, drive again to the park offices and then have a briefing about the golden monkeys and thereafter enter into the park taking the golden monkey tracking trail and on this experience, other primates, birds, butterflies will be spotted.
After spending time with the golden monkeys have lunch and after embark on your journey back to Kigali to either your hotel or airport for your return flight with memories.
