Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Our representative will meet you at Kigali International airport to transfer you to Volcanoes national park.
Overnight: 5 Volcanoes Gorilla Lodge/ Le Bambou Gorilla lodge
Day 2: First Gorilla Trek and Iby’ iwacu Village Tour.
First Gorilla Trek: Have your breakfast early in the morning and proceed to the park’s headquarters in Kinigi; where you will be briefed and place in groups of 8 members each. Your gorilla trekking safari will commence at 8am, therefore it is important to always keep time. Usually, tracking gorilla groups can take between 2-8 hours with an hour of direct contact with the gorillas once they have been located. Hiking through the forest might prove to be a bit cumbersome and thus calls for one to be physical and mentally fit for the vigorous activity. Also remember to come with a good pair of hiking boots and a raincoat, in case it rains while you are in the forest.
Iby’ iwacu Village Tour: After your gorilla trekking, you will have your packed lunch and later proceed to Iby’iwacu cultural village where you will be taken through the interesting cultural history of the people of Rwanda. While there, you will have a short peek into the day-to-day lifestyle of the locals, get to check out their traditional handcrafts and also watch dance performances from the local dance and drummers troupe.
Overnight: 5 Volcanoes Gorilla Lodge/ Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trek (Different Gorilla Family).
Second Gorilla Trek: Today we enjoy a second day of gorilla trekking in a different location, setting out once more to the briefing point after an early breakfast. Once the gorillas are located, our small group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them.
Gorilla trekking is one of the world’s truly memorable wildlife experiences – a look into one of these magnificent creature’s eyes brings home the bond that exists between them and us. The hour is often over all too quickly, and we slowly make our way back to our lodge to recount the day’s adventures.
Overnight: 5 Volcanoes Gorilla Lodge/ Le Bambou Gorilla lodge
Day 4: Transfer Back to Kigali and departure.
Transfer Back to Kigali & Departure: Depart the lodge for Kigali International airport. Depending on your flight departure time, you will take some time off to visit the genocide memorial centre before you depart Rwanda. The driver will drop you off at the airport well in time for your check in. End of Rwanda safari Tour.
