This 4 days Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Bwindi Gorilla Safari combines a chimpanzee viewing excursion on Ngamba Island with gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This safari package is very cost-effective and a great option if you have limited time to explore Uganda on your safari. During this safari, you will get to spend a day on Ngamba Island feeding chimpanzees and later drive to Bwindi Forest National Park where you will get to track mountain gorillas and spend an hour in their midst. If you wish to spend more time with the gorillas in Bwindi, you can opt for gorilla habituation instead and spend four hours with them.

Detailed Itinerary for 4 days Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Bwindi Gorilla Safari.
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Ngamba Island for chimpanzee viewing.
Upon arrival, you will be picked up from the Entebbe airport by our company guide who will then transfer you to Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary; home to the orphaned chimpanzees. The journey involves sailing on water in a traditional motorized boat/speedboat and it takes 90 minutes/50 minutes to reach the island.
On arrival, you will be welcomed at the island, thereafter you will be directed to the visitor’s center where you will be given an introduction to the project, its history, island residents, and their plight. You will receive an educational orientation by a chimpanzee caregiver and view 2 feedings of the chimpanzees. After your lunch and spending time with the chimpanzees, you will return to the landing site and proceed to your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
Enjoy your breakfast very early and depart from Kampala for Bwindi National Park in Southwestern Uganda, along Masaka-Mbarara road. The drive from Kampala to Bwindi normally takes about 8 to 9 hours. You will have a brief stop at the Equator and have the excitement of crossing the equator while taking photographs and doing some souvenir shopping at the crafts market. Proceed till you reach Mbarara town for lunch at the Igongo cultural site. Arrive in Bwindi in the evening and check into your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park.
Early in the morning after having breakfast, you will report to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and trekking gear for a briefing from the senior park ranger guide about the dos and don’ts while trekking. You will then proceed in the mist-covered dense forest and start your search of the gorillas under the guidance of a ranger guide. The activity can take 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally find these harmonious creatures. Once you get sight of them, you will spend an hour with them, observing their behavior while taking photographs. After there, you will return to meet your driver who will transfer you back to the lodge and spend your evening at leisure.
Dinner will be served at your lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Kampala.
After your morning breakfast, depart to Kampala with an en-route lunch in Mbarara town. Proceed to Kampala and arrive in the evening, refresh then connect to Entebbe Airport to catch up with your flight to your next destination.
