3 Days Chimpanzee Habituation Safari in Uganda : Our 3 days chimpanzee habituation safari in Uganda will take you to Kibale national park which is situated in the western region of the country. The park is home to over 1500 chimpanzees which make it the primate capital of Uganda besides Bwindi Impenetrable national park which hosts half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas. Chimpanzee habituation is only offered in Kibale national park and the activity offers visitors a unique experience as you get to spend the entire day with chimpanzees.

Day 1: Pick-up & Transfer to Kibale National Park
You will be welcomed by our driver guide at Entebbe international airport and then transfer to Kibale national park which takes about 5 to 6 hours’ drive passing through Mubende, Kyenjojo and Fort Portal. On the way you will have great views of the landscapes, banana and tea plantations, homesteads, local people, farmlands, beautiful scenery, and road side markets among others as you proceed to the park. Upon arrival you will continue to the lodge where you will check in and have lunch.
After lunch you will prepare for an evening nature walk in Bigodi swamp walk which is an interesting destination that harbors various wildlife species including primate species like baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, animals like bush pigs, otters, Sitatunga, bushbucks and various bird species like the great blue Turaco, papyrus Gonolek, white winged warbler among others. During the interesting nature walk which takes about 2 to 3 hours, you will be able to view various tree species, plants, animals, butterflies, bird species, primates, enjoy the cool environment, listen to sweet sounds of the birds, breath fresh air among others. After the nature walk you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee habituation experience
You will have an early breakfast today. Remember to carry packed lunch and then meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyachu Visitors Centre for a briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee habituation. After the briefing you will start trekking in the jungle at around 6:30 am with researchers, guides, rangers to where the chimpanzee family slept the previous night.
Chimpanzee habituation experience takes a full day and during trekking you will be able to view some primates like black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, blue monkeys, some animals species, birds like African grey parrot, olive long tailed cuckoo among others. Once the chimpanzees have been found, you will be allowed to spend four hours with them in their natural habitat where you will get an opportunity of watching them wake up, feed, breastfeed young ones, hunt, play in the trees, do patrol and building new nests for the next night.
After the breathtaking chimpanzee habituation experience, you will trek back to the park headquarters, meet up with your guide to transfer to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Departure to Kampala
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Ndali Kasenda crater lakes where you will have spectacular views of the Rwenzori mountains, tea plantations, crater area, Kibale forest national park, Kichwamba escarpments in the rift valley, lake George among others on the Ndali-kasenda viewpoint. After the crater lakes visit you will start the journey to Kampala with a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch.
After lunch you will proceed with another stop over at the equator where you will take photos, buy craft items, art pieces, and souvenirs among others and proceed to Kampala. You will reach early evening and your driver guide will drop you at any place of convenience or at Entebbe airport in case you have a flight to catch. End of Tour.
