Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport & Transfer to Kampala.

Day 2: Transfer to Jinja City

On the 2nd day of your 21 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari, drive to Jinja for a trip after breakfast. On the way, stop by Mabira Forest for a nature stroll and birding. After that, go to Jinja, which is home to the Nile River’s origins. After arriving, eat lunch before visiting the Nile’s fast falls and then exploring the Nile’s source with a sunset boat trip on the Nile. Day 3: Transfer to Sipi Falls

Day 4: Explore Sipi Falls

Meet your driving guide after breakfast and connect to the Sipi Falls information center to arrange for a guide to accompany you on the walk. Sipi Falls is a series of three waterfalls found in the Mt Elgon foothills, the shortest of which is 75 meters high, the second is 85 meters high, and the third is 100 meters high. Depending on your physical fitness, you can trek all three falls or just two. Rock climbing is an optional activity. Visit the coffee plantation surrounding Sipi Falls after you’ve had your packed lunch. This region of Uganda produces some of the greatest coffee in the world, so you’ll get a tour of the coffee-making process before returning to your lodge for supper and sleep.

Day 5: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park.

On the 5th day of your 21 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari, breakfast will be served very early in the morning, and you will check out after saying your goodbyes to the hotel personnel in preparation for your transfer to the Kidepo Valley National Park. Kidepo National Park is located in the Karamoja area of Uganda, in the extreme north eastern section of the country. The travel is long, and certain sections of the road are in bad condition. Arrive at Moroto late in the afternoon for a visit to the cattle market, which takes place every Wednesday of the week, as well as the Jie ethic tribe of the Karamoja, who are Uganda’s true cattle warriors, comparable to the Masai of Kenya. Elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes including waterbucks, Oribis, Jackson’s hartebeest, Uganda Kob, and other species are likely to be seen during the game drive. Leopards, lions, and hyenas can be seen on a lucky morning. Lunch will be served at the resort.

Later in the afternoon, you’ll take a boat ride along the Nile to the bottom of the Murchison Falls. During the boat ride, you will have the opportunity to observe large groups of hippos, buffaloes, and elephants on the beaches, as well as a range of bird species such as kingfishers, cormorants, and bee-eaters. Day 11: Chimpanzee Habituation Experience

Connect to the Kanyanchu visitors’ centre after an early morning meal for a briefing on the chimp habituation experience. This is a full-day activity in which you will join researchers to investigate the behaviours of semi-habituated chimps, beginning with nesting. This exercise allows you to learn about chimp behaviour, including feeding, mating, and nesting, as well as their manner of life. Expect to observe a variety of other primate species throughout your habituation trip because Kibale forest is the capital of all monkeys. The tutorial will explain the difference between a female and male hot spring. Other primates you may see during your visit to the hot springs are the red tailed monkey, grey-checked mangabeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and olive baboons, among others.

Day 15: Game Drive and Launch Cruise on Kazinga Channel

After an early morning meal, meet your driver for a journey to the Kasenyi region, a popular destination for game drives and antelope mating. You will have the opportunity to see a variety of wild creatures such as lions, buffaloes, elephants, various antelopes, and a variety of other nocturnal animals and predators from hunting. Return to your accommodation after the game drive to rest and have lunch.

Later in the afternoon, you will have a 2-hour launch cruise in the Kazinga canal. You’ll be able to see everything you missed during your game drive while on the launch cruise. After breakfast, head to the park offices for a Ranger guide briefing on Mountain Gorilla trekking. This is where you will be assigned a gorilla family to monitor and instructed on the gorilla tracking regulations. This activity is expected to take 4 to 8 hours, including 1 hour spent with the gorillas following the encounter. The amount of time you spend looking for gorillas will be determined by the gorilla family you’ve been assigned to follow. Meeting gorillas in their natural environment is one of those once-in-a-lifetime events. You will get the opportunity to see and photograph at close range.

After an hour with them, your guide and rangers will bring you to the starting site and present you with certificates before meeting your driver and returning you to the lodge to relax, eat supper, and sleep.

Day 18: Golden Monkey Trekking in Mgahinga National Park.

After an early morning meal, proceed to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park‘s headquarters in Ntebeko for a Ranger guide briefing on golden monkey tracking. Depending on the mobility of the primates that day, this exercise might take anywhere from 2 to 5 hours. On the 19th day of your 21 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari, after breakfast, take a boat ride to some of the lake’s fascinating islands, such as Kyahugye Island, where you can see wildlife such as Zebras, water bucks, impalas, and Uganda kobs, Akampene Island, formerly known as a punishment island where pregnant unmarried girls from Kigezi were dumped to die until the early 1960s when it was abandoned, and Bwama and Njuyeera Islands, where missionary Dr. Leonard Sharp founded a leper colony.

Return to the resort for lunch, then spend the afternoon relaxing on the lakeshores or participating in lake activities such as zip lining or doing a nature walk. Return to your lodge for supper and an overnight stay, as described above.

Day 20: Drive to Lake Mburo

Drive to Lake Mburo National Park after breakfast. After arriving in Mbarara town, pause for lunch and a visit to the Igongo Cultural Centre, where you will tour the museum and learn about the Ankole Kingdom’s history and culture. Continue to Lake Mburo National Park, where you will connect for a 2-hour boat ride and evening game drive before checking into your hotel, where you will have supper and spend the night.
