Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer Back
Today marks the highlight of your 2 days Rwanda Gorilla Tour. Have your breakfast early in the morning and drive to the park headquarters in Kinigi in time to register and start your briefing at 7:30 am. Once you are done with your briefing, you will be allocated to a trekking group with a maximum of eight members per gorilla family.
Commence your hike into the bamboo forest in search of your gorilla family. This activity can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours or more, depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you have spotted your gorilla family, you will be given an hour to spend in their midst and take as many photos as you wish. (Please make sure to disable your flash and camera shutter sound in order not to scare or irritate the gorillas. Also, make sure to follow the instructions given to you by your ranger and always remember to maintain a distance of at least 7 meters away from the gorillas.
Once your time is up, you will head back to base, where you will find your driver guide waiting for you. In case you complete your gorilla trek early, you can pay a visit to Ibyi’wacu village- also known as the “Gorilla Guardians Village.” Interact with the friendly locals and immerse yourself in Rwanda’s unique culture.
Later, drive back to Kigali, arriving in time to check in at the airport for your departure flight or drop off at your hotel, as you will advise.
