Detailed 12 Days Uganda Birding and Wildlife Safari.
Day 1: Pickup and Head to Mabamba & Later Transfer Lake Mburo
Early transfer at 06:30am to Mabamba swamp for many water birds like the shoebill, African and Lesser Jacana, Cauruther Cisticola, Common Morhen, Lesser Swamphen, Papyrus Gonolek, Red knobbed-Coot, Malachite Kingfisher, Blue-Headed Coucal, Northern Brown-Throated Weaver, after the canoe you will then transfer to Lake Mburo National Park making a stopover at the Equator for lunch then later re-embark on your journey seeing many several Birds along the way to the “WHISPHERS OF THE WILD.”
You can choose to relax at the hotel before doing an evening game drive for many savannah species like the Crested Barbet, Double Collared Barbet, Long Tailed Cisticola, Rupells Starling, Trilling Cisticola and many more birds
Overnight is at Rwakobo Lodge, Eagle Nest Lodge, Acadia Cottages, Kimbla Mantana Tented Camp.
Day 2: Morning Boat Cruise & Birding
On the 2nd day of your 12 days birding and wildlife safari, Early morning boat cruise on Lake Mburo for special birds like the African Finfoot, White Backed Night-Heron, African Fish Eagle, African Darter, after the cruise you can drive back to your hotel for lunch before doing an evening bird watching in search of the parks most sought specie called the Red Faced Barbet and many more birds flying back to meet up with their nests. After the bird watching session then you can drive back to your Hotel.
Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After your morning breakfast you the transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest via Ruhija for the Albertine Endemic bird species making a stopover at the “NECK” where you will see many unique bird species like the Graurer’s Broadbill, Strip Breasted Tit, Handsome Francolin, Bar Tailed Tragon, Black Bee-Eater overnight is at Buhoma community rest camp.
Day 4: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi
After breakfast you will then walk to the briefing point to meet up with Endangered Gentle Giants(Mountain Gorillas),the tracking may take 4-6 hours at most depending on the movements of the Gorillas then you can walk back to get you certificates of tracking. You can choose to relax in the afternoon or go back and do an evening bird watching for higher altitude species.
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
On this day 5, we transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha for the tree climbing lions and many Savannah Species such as the Western Banded Snake-Eagle, Surlphur Breasted Bushrike, Madagascar Pond Heron, Saddle Billed Stork, Black Chested Snake-Eagle, Helmeted Guinea-Fowl, then later proceed to the Northern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park for overnight stays at Pumba Safari lodge, Bush Lodge, Parkview Safari.
Day 6: Bird Watching and Boat Cruise
On the 6th day of your 12 days birding and wildlife safari, Early morning game drive and bird watching seeing many birds like the Termnicks Courser, Yellow Throated Long-Claw, Red Necked Francolin, Senegal Plover, Gray Backed Fiscal, Crested Francolin then do a boat cruise in the afternoon on the Kazinga channel for several water birds and many like the African Skimmer, Pink Backed and Great White Pelican, White Winged Tern and more mammals then later drive back to your place of accommodation.
Day 7: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Early morning transfer to Kibale Forest National Park birding making several stopovers along the way then do either an afternoon chimpanzee tracking or do evening bird watching around the forest for species like the Cameron Sombre Greenbul, Narina Tragon, and African crowned Eagle. Overnight is at Primate Lodge, Chimpanzee Guest House, Kibale Forest Camp.
Day 8: Birding and Swamp Walk
Whole day birding on Kibale forest looking for the Green Breasted Pitta and many other birds then later do Bigodi swamp walk for many more 13 primates and other many birds like Blue Shouldered Robin-Chat, Vanga Flycatcher, Yellow Billed Barbet,
Day 9: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
Whole-day transportation to Murchison Falls National Park, a lengthy but pleasant journey with numerous birds along the way, where we witness Stripped Kingfisher, Black Bellied Bustard, Woodland Kingfisher, and Bronze Mankin.
Overnight stays are available at Pakuba Safari Lodge, Murchison River Lodge, and Red Chilli Campsite.
Day 10: Early Morning Game Drive
Early morning game drive in search of many more savannah species seeing many birds such as the Sliverbird, Red Fronted Weaver, White Chinned Prinia, Brown Chested Snake-Eagle, Short Tailed Eagle then late head back to the hotel for lunch after lunch we then do an afternoon boat cruise on River Nile to the bottom of the falls for many bird species and a lot of wildlife on the river banks.
Day 11: Delta Cruise and Transfer to Masindi
On the 11th day of your 12 days birding and wildlife safari, Early in the morning, cruise to Delta Point to see shoebills and other water birds like as the Purple Heron and Goliath Heron, and then move to Budongo Forest through the top of the falls to undertake bird viewing before checking in at Masindi Hotel or Kabalega Resort Hotel for the night.
Day 12: Birding Royal Mile
Early morning birding in Royal Mile in search of the Budongo 5, as well as many other birds such as the Dwarf Kingfisher, Rufous Crowned Eremomela, Chestnut Capped Flycatcher, Choclate Backed Kingfisher, Sabines Spinetail, and Cassins Hawk Eagle, followed by a lunch stop in Masindi before returning to Kampala.
