Detailed 10 Days Congo and Uganda Safari from Kigali.

Day 1: Pick-up from Kigali and Drive to Gisenyi – Congo Boarder.
You will meet our company representative on your agreed location in Kigali before 8 am in the morning. Embark on your drive to cross into Congo to Goma. Check in with the tourism office strategically located at the Grand Barrier border Post to receive Gorilla and Volcano permit that’s to be presented at the beginning of every trek. There after you will be transfer to Kibumba tented camp just near the trailhead of Nyiragongo volcano

Day 2: Virunga Gorilla Trekking in Congo
Have your first meal of the day – Breakfast and report to Bukima patrol passport with your passport and permit details for registration and briefing. All treks in Virunga national park begin here. Later head into the forest with your ranger guide and expect to hike for 1 to 3 hours until you find the mountain Gorillas in Virunga national park

When you get to see them, you will be in awe inspired by their huge size and gentle nature as you watch them go about their daily business with mothers tending to the young ones and the juveniles making an effort to impress. You will stay up to 1 hour maximum and head back to the camp enjoy a late lunch and have the rest of the day at leisure, including time for nature walks and bird watching.

Day 3: Nyiragongo Hiking

Prepare for early morning breakfast as you will are expected at the headquarters by 8am.

Meet your ranger guide, a porter and begin your Mount Nyiragongo hike. Meals will be provided and you will stay overnight in wooden shelter at the top.

Please note that your Rwanda Visa will expire after crossing into Congo so you will apply for another immediately and you will find it ready on return.

Day 4: Descend Nyiragongo & Cross into Uganda to Bwindi Impenetrable NP

This morning, you will descend the Volcano and head down to Kibati by 11:00am. Here, you will connect with your driver / guide and transfer to Cross into Uganda via the Cyanika border and drive to Bwindi arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight at Buhoma Haven Lodge/ Ichumbi safari Lodge.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Have an early breakfast so as to be in time for the briefing before the gorilla trek. Your driver guide will pick you up in the morning from your hotel and transfer you to the specific trekking sector starting point for the 20 minutes brief. You will be told on the do’s and don’ts of the gorilla trekking also be given room to check if you have all the necessities for the trek and if not, you may hire before you set out into the forest. You will also be allocated the group to trek according to your capabilities. You will hike through the impenetrable forest for about 4 to 6 hours depending on how far the mountain gorillas could be on that day.

When you meet them, you will be allowed to spend one hour enjoying these humble yet strong creatures, watch them go about their day, take non flash photos of them for the blogs and memories and after make your way out of the forest to meet your driver guide to transfer you back to your accommodation for a late lunch. Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park and launch cruise on Kazinga Channel.

Rise up ready for a new and eventful day. Take your breakfast then connect to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha sector. This sector is famously known for the tree climbing lions which you may be able to see on a lucky drive through to connect to your accommodation. Reach in time for lunch and freshening up for the afternoon launch Cruise on Kazinga Channel. The Kazinga channel is a great birding spot and this boat trip offers you the most to see the birds of Queen Elizabeth like the African fish eagle, the pink backed pelican and the famous shoe bill. You will also see some aquatic animals like the crocodiles, hippos to mention but a few. This launch cruise lasts 2 hours then you drive back to your accommodation to retire for the day. Dinner and overnight will be at Park View Safari cottages/ Elephant Hub/ Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 7: Morning game drive and Lion Tracking Experience.

On this day of your 6 day safari, we bring you the highlight of taking a 4 hour drive around the Queen Elizabeth National Park in search for the wildlife the park has to offer. On this drive, you will encounter, the different types of antelopes like the bush duikers, Impalas, water bucks also you will see elephants, buffalos, warthogs and the tree climbing lions of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Connect your accommodation for lunch then relax. Later in the evening embark on a lion tracking experience where you will be accompanied by a team of expert researcher as you track down the location of lion prides in the park. You will get to see the famous tree climbing lions of Ishasha in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth national park.

Later drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight at will be at Park View Safari cottages / Elephant Hub/ Mweya Safari Lodge as night before.

Day 8: Transfer to Kibale National park

Wake up to a tasty breakfast and meet your driver guide for your 2 to 3 hour drive to Kibaale arriving in the evening. Get to your accommodation for check in and lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure in anticipation for the next day’s activity. Dinner and overnight at Chimpanzee forest Guest house

Day 9: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park

Wake up as early as 6am to set out into the Kibale forest that is famous for the big number of chimpanzees in its territory also known as Africa’s best Chimpanzee viewing spot. You will have a brief before the trek at the park headquarters then enter the forest. Chimpanzees are more active and more playful than the mountain gorillas so you may hear their sound right from the moment you enter the forest with your ranger guide up to when you exit. You will trek for about 3 hours until you meet a chimpanzee family going about their day. They will be swinging from tree branch to tree branch so enjoy the views as getting a clear picture may not be as easy as with the gorillas. This park has many more primates you may encounter on your trek like the black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys. Exit the park to connect back to your accommodation for lunch.

Spend the evening at leisure but if you are feeling fresh and would like to take on another activity, you may opt to visit the Bigodi wetland area for a guided nature walk and this gives you the opportunity to interact with the local community and learn about their projects and way of living. Day 10: Transfer back to Kampala for drop off

This will be a leisurely morning where you will connect for breakfast then pack your bags ready to check out of your hotel and drive back to Kampala. This is a 4 to 5 hour transfer via Mubende further to Kampala city for drop off or Entebbe International Airport as you may advise. End of Tour.
